Egan
Ash is the Founder and General Partner of Archetype. Ash has been leading investments in seed-stage crypto companies and protocols since 2015, having led early investments in now pillar crypto companies and protocols including Chainalysis (2015), Mina (2017), Near (2018), and Balancer (2019). He also led Accomplice's investments in Dapper Labs/Flow (2018), and Bison Trails (2018) [acq. Coinbase], among others.
Before founding Archetype, Ash was a Partner at Accomplice leading the firm’s blockchain/crypto practice. He also previously co-launched the venture arm of Consensys and spent time at Converge VC in Boston.
Dmitriy
Berenzon
Dmitriy is a Partner at Archetype, where he drives research, investments, portfolio support, and fund strategy. He was previously a Research Partner at 1k(x), where he focused on research, investments, and working with founders on fundraising, business development, and token model design.
Prior to 1k(x), Dmitriy was a Research Partner at Bollinger Investment Group, a crypto-focused family office, where he led research & investments, and worked with CoinFund, a crypto-focused investment firm. Before becoming an investor, Dmitriy spent six years at Deutsche Bank across a number of strategy and innovation roles. Dmitriy holds an MBA from UC Berkeley and is a proud Blockchain@Berkeley alumni.
Danny
Sursock
Danny is a Partner at Archetype supporting firm management, diligence, and the build out of industry-leading operational infrastructure. Previously, Danny was a Senior Associate in Oppenheimer’s Investment Banking division where he helped build out a team advising $25B in growth equity M&A and raising $6B+ in capital for emerging technology companies.
Katherine
Wu
Katherine is Chief Operating Officer at ENS Labs and a Venture Partner at Archetype. Prior to joining Archetype, Katherine was a Senior Lead at Coinbase Ventures, where she scaled the investment practice and oversaw a record-breaking year in dealmaking. Before Coinbase, Katherine advised a number of crypto companies including Balancer Labs, Solana Labs, and the Ethereum Foundation. She was also the first business hire at Messari.
Katherine is the inaugural Research Fellow at the Crypto Council for Innovation (CCI), where she generates and oversees research projects that document the opportunities and challenges faced by the crypto industry in policy advocacy globally.
Katie
Chiou
Katie is a Principal at Archetype. Before joining Archetype, Katie was an Analyst at Coinbase Ventures, focused on consumer investments and DAO governance research. Katie was also previously a core contributor/talent scout at Friends with Benefits and a Gitcoin KERNEL fellow.
Nick
Pai
Nick is a Research Partner at Archetype, focused on advising portfolio companies on building sustainable decentralized architecture. Nick is also an early engineer at UMA protocol where he co-leads the smart contract team building an optimistic oracle ecosystem secured by economic incentives.
Will
Kantaros
Will is a Research Partner at Archetype, focused on mechanism design research and the interoperability stack. Outside of Archetype, he is the Co-Founder and CTO of Decent, solving cross-chain, single click payments. Before joining Archetype and founding Decent, Will spent time at Meta, Coinbase, and Polychain.
Tyler
Gehringer
Tyler is the Marketing Lead at Archetype. Prior to joining Archetype, he worked as a freelance media producer, contributing to the content production and marketing efforts of several DAOs and crypto companies. He previously worked as a marketing and communications coordinator at a digital agency in Austin.
Katie
Hazel
Katie is the Network Operations Associate at Archetype, supporting the firm’s platform and administrative initiatives. Before joining Archetype, Katie was an Office and Events Coordinator at Lightspeed Venture Partners, helping launch their European branch. Previously, Katie was a licensed psychotherapist for students at UC Berkeley.
David
Wong
David Wong is Co-Founder of zkSecurity, a zero-knowledge security auditing firm. Prior to founding zkSecurity, David was a Cryptography Architect at O(1) Labs where he worked on the Mina cryptocurrency. Prior to O(1) Labs, he was the security lead for the Diem (formally known as Libra) cryptocurrency at Novi (Facebook). David has also spent time as a security consultant at the Cryptography Services practice of NCC Group.
David is the author of Real-World Cryptography, a practical guide detailing the cryptographic techniques that drive the security of web APIs, registering and logging in users, and blockchains. At Archetype, David provides research and due diligence support related to cryptography, zero-knowledge, security, and protocol design.
Andrew
Hong
Andrew Hong was previously the Headmaster at Dune, the leading crypto community data platform. Prior to Dune, he was the data scientist at Mirror.xyz working on data infra, community social graph analysis, and tokenomics. At Archetype, Andrew provides data-driven research, portfolio support, and builds public goods related to onchain data.
Andrew is the creator of Crypto Data Bytes, a newsletter with guides to crypto data. He is also the founder of Bytexplorers, an onchain community of onchain data experts.
